Connecting Farmers to Consumers

The discussion session was conducted to take inputs from consumers and farmers on connecting farmers to consumers. The session was for one day.

Topics covered in the session were:

Requirements of Farmers in growing and marketing, Requirements of consumers in the agriculture products, Role of Logistics and Processing Unit, Role of middle Man and APMC in evaluating quality and Price, Transparency in growing, Transparency in Logistic Expenses, Requirement of Farm management, Fixed Consumers in Apartments.

Impact:

Farmers and consumers get to know the requirements of each other. Session concluded that Connecting Farmers to Consumers happen only if the efficient logistic solution is provided and the number of consumers should be fair enough to buy one farmer’s complete harvest.

 

Consumer however is ready to pay farmer the market price but the graded harvest is required. The team decided to start pilot project at the gated community in Bangalore and connect farmers with consumers.

 

This is the first initiation by Foundation to start helping both conventional and ZBNF farmers in marketing their produce.
